Lotería Inspired Engagement Activity

In our work with PODER Emma, we designed a series of engagement activities that drew visual inspiration from a traditional Mexican board game Lotería played regularly by the residents.

The following guide offers a selection of activities we designed.

Lotería Inspired Game Card

We designed a series of “game cards” that included spatial interventions that had come up in previous community engagement activities and surveys. Interventions were cut out to create custom “game card sheets” residents wanted to see at their site, or used to respond to prompts and collage exercises.

Prompts

We created a series of prompt sheets that asked questions related to core themes that emerged from the virtual survey. Lotería “game cards” were used to respond to the prompts.

Collage

Lotería “game cards” were used to create individual collages as well as design elements to collage onto large site plans.
