Designed by the Open Architecture Collaborative (OAC) and funded in part by the HDR Foundation, the Children’s Village at Foxfire Ranch will be a nature-based learning and play environment intentionally designed to foster creativity, problem-solving, physical activity, and intergenerational connection.

The design is inspired by the alluvial shape of the Mississippi River and its oxbow lakes. Gardens and play spaces are nested into the path that offers a route from the main pavilion to cabins along the southern edge of the site.

Attention is also given to soil remediation and creating a stormwater path that can serve as an example of erosion control at Foxfire Ranch.

The design is led by Almas Haider with technical assistance provided by OAC Project Committee members.
